area on my arm where they poked me for the IV and wasn't wearing gloves. As soon as we came back home on June 18th I went to the nearest VA hospital and was told I had a swollen abdomen and inflammation and a infection in my intestines. I tried over the medicine while at the resort and it didn't work and was also prescribed medicine from the local ER and those didn't work either. I was prescribed stozol 40 and sertal compuesto Forte. I know of others cases and it has happened to me before when I went to DR. What should I do the next time this happens to me

the remainder of our stay. The diarrhea and the stomach pain still continues and she still feels weak & tired. I took her to the emergency room last night and she was extremelly dyhadrated among other things. Unfortunately we cannot pintpoint what caused it, it could had been something she ate or something she drank. There were 11 of us and both my daughter and my nephew got sick.

last day then we avoided any foods that were not pre packaged at all costs. Once we got to the air port, we found out our flight was canceled. We spoke to a bus full of people (from canceled flight) and they all mentioned the same thing, all staying at different resorts that’s when we really realized this was not the flu. One was hospitalized after 10 days of illness here. We will not be returning to Dominican Republic again. We’ve been to other parts of the Caribbean with zero issues like this. While it’s pretty and the people are very friendly, there are much better options. Horrible stay :(

A large group of us got sick at some point during the trip and after returning home. I am still having nausea, cramping, diarrhea and vomiting 6 days after first day of illness.

STRANGE FLAVOR, ALMOST CHEMICALLY TASTE)and a few beers that were drafts from a tap. Day two at the resort I started with GI issues and fever, diarrhea, sweating profusely could not eat or hold any food in my stomach. Flight home high fever, sweating profusely, GI uncontrolled diarrhea - worried at this point about my health. Made it home to Boston and more of the same symptoms... thinking I was going to die with pain and lack of food and dehydration at this point. Two more days with hell on earth I went to my primary doctor and she gave me antibiotics and said My cause was Travelers Diarrhea... I did not buy the doctors diagnosis. I recovered to semi normal state of health. Then and only from that point started having uncontrollable chronic abdominal pain and GI sickness that is unexplainable. I have seen the best GI doctors in Boston and had two surgeries since trying to find the source of absolute GI irritation and extreme chronic pain. This is my current situation with no answers and daily doses of opioids to manage my pain with no answers- mystery illness patient? I think not I believe I was poisoned some how and want to get to the bottom of how?...

weak, nauseous and had a horrible pounding headache. For that reason, I stopped drinking and tried recovering. Felt better by Thursday night, so we went to dinner in the resort and had drinks after. We had margaritas and beer. After returning to our rooms around midnight, my husband quickly fell ill. Had horrible nausea, bad cramping, pain in his chest, was sweating, very weak and could barely stand up. He moaned all night. We thought food poisoning, but nothing was helping. Even things we received from a nurse to try. Told the front desk. No follow up. He continued to be sick the entire trip. We stayed in our room mostly and he tried to at least drink fluids, but it would come back up. We returned on Sunday, brought him to the doctor Monday morning. They thought he had severe food poisoning, but because of his symptoms ran additional non conclusive tests. He started feeling better after a few weeks. Missed work. Went to a few doctor appoints as the symptoms continued.

had nothing to eat or drink the whole day before we left. The sickness lasted another month after we got home. We didn’t drink the water and we’re very careful to use bottled water even when brushing our teeth, but we ate there and drank the alcoholic beverages. This has me wondering if it’s linked to all these other cases as we have never returned to the Dominican since this has happened.
