dehydration . We got back to the resort and my husband start with nausea and diarrhea. He was also hospitalized for 3 days. We don’t know what it was that we ate or drank that caused this. We were super careful about our food choices at the buffet and beach side restaurant. The hotel is useless in helping or making things right after spending half your trip in the hospital. They take your report and that’s it. Nothing else is done for you. Stay away from this resort and the DR. They make lots of money making tourists sick. Several people from this resort were also at the hospital. We are returning home and all require follow ups with tour doctors. I still have stomach pain/cramps.

continued for several weeks after returning home. My blood pressure was 220 once I got back to the states. I go weeks of feeling great, and then a month or two where I can't even get out of bed because I am exhausted. My skin is a mess, and my hair falls out in clumps, pale, brain fog are just a few of the symptoms I now live with. I am now getting a referral to Mayo Clinic. I am hoping for some answers!

Got sick after on the 6th day of my stay. Diarrhea and stomach cramps were the symptoms. Not sure what caused it, highly suspect the food was the cause. My wife and 2 children also experienced similar symptoms, with additional vomiting.

Our group ate at Bavaro buffet for supper Feb 8, 2020. Middle of the night 3 members were up violently ill; vomiting, diarrhea, fever/chills that carried into the next day. Took them about 2 days to recover. Suspect it was either the mussels or beef steak contaminated.

out. We have no memory of the rest of the day. Only thing I remember is being dragged up the stairs to my hotel room by life guard and other staff member. Thankfully, the members of the group who did not get affected ensured we were cared for. When I woke up, I had hot/cold flashes and vomited bile for the next 10hrs.

I was in Punta Cana at a resort back in December with a friend. About 3 days into our trip I fell ill with a persistent headache, fever, diarrhea and severe stomach cramps. My friend was fine, but I went to the hospital. Unsure of what caused it.

I was dying. My boyfriend (now husband) had to call for help (called at least 3 times). They finally came and got me and brought me to their doctor. In order to be "seen" I had to pay him $500. Once he evaluated me, he said I should go to their local hospital, I refused so they gave me some medicine (anti-viral?) and two iv's. The rest of the vacation (3 more days) was a blur because I was so sick. I didn't eat/drink anything other than bottled water and bread. When i came home, I was admitted to the hospital for 5 days on iv antibiotics. My doctor said I had one of the worst strands of e-coli and my kidneys were failing. Luckily, I got help. I wish I reported this years ago but since these reports are coming out in the news I felt I had to post this somewhere that mattered so others could see how serious this issue is in the Dominican Republic.
