Upon arriving home in the States; we immediately went to the ER as I thought his breathing was erratic and he was still very ill. The doctors examine samples of his stool and blood. His diagnosis was a bacterial infection caused by Listeria. This bacteria grows in meats, fish, vegetables and poultry that is not refrigerated and maintained properly. The doctor added this bacteria is very common in humid climates where foods are not refrigerated and handled properly.

The warning is specifically for individuals who suffer from wheat or milk allergies, celiac disease, or other gluten-induced illnesses. As of now, no allergic reactions associated with the consumption of these products have been reported to MAPAQ.
The products in question are the "Mergez" and "Italiennes Fortes" sausages.
- The "Mergez" sausages contain wheat.
