The ‘bugs’ that cause the most food poisoning in the United States include Norovirus, Salmonella, Clostridium perfringens, Campylobacter, and Staph (Staphylococcus aureus). Botulism (Clostridium botulinum), Listeria, E. coli, and Vibrio cause less illnesses each year, but are more likely to lead to hospitalization.
