US – Ready-to-eat ham products recalled over possible Listeria contamination

Johnston County Hams recalled over 89,096 pounds of ready to eat ham products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. These items were shipped to distributors in Maryland, North Carolina, New York, South Carolina, and Virginia, according to the recall notice on U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) website.

4 illnesses and one death have been linked to this case as of Oct. 03rd. Anyone with concerns about the illness or anyone who has developed symptoms should contact a healthcare provider and inform them about possible exposure to the bacteria.
