Coffee Food Poisoning

Coffee, whether brewed at home or store-bought, could be a source of food poisoning. In-home coffee makers could have mold or bacteria growing in the water reservoir resulting in infection and illness, whereas coffee products bought in-store could contain contaminated milk or flavorings, also resulting in illness.

- comments: observed prep tables in rear prep area in need of cleaning underneath cutting boards, and coffee spills underneath coffee equipment in grocery. Instructed to clean and maintain.

50. Hot & cold water available; adequate pressure
- comments: observed no hot water throughout the premises during the time of inspection. The facility is open and operating, preparing sliced deli meat, italian beef, ground beef, etc. Noted in use prep area handsink hot water @60f, 3 compartment sink water temperature @ 55. 8f. Instructed to provide hot water at 3-compartment handsink @ required temperature of minimum 115f, as well as required 100f at all handwashing sinks throughout facility. Priority violation. 7-38-030 (c). Citation issued.

- comments: observed floors in the grocery area under all chip/beverage racks as well as the rear storage area with excessive amounts of dried food debris. Instructed to remove and clean to prevent pest harborage.

- comments: must provide all food handler certificates for all food handlers on-premise and maintain them on-site for review.

- comments: no allergen training certificate for the new person in charge. Instructed to provide for all city of chicago certified food manager certificate holders.

- comments: 5-204. 12: observed no backflow prevention device on the ice machine in the rear dishwashing area. Instructed to provide and maintain.

- comments: 5-501. 111: observed the indoor garbage enclosure downstairs from facility not maintained. The floors were filled with debris. Instructed to clean and maintain mentioned enclosure.

- comments: observed continued non-compliance. Previous priority foundation violations not corrected from 03/13/2024 report# 2590966 as follows: #49: instructed to clean and maintain the following: exterior surfaces of cooking equipment to remove grease and food particles, interior bottom of fryers, areas between fryers, woks and stove, exterior surfaces of refrigeration units and interiors of refrigeration and freezer units, exterior surfaces of storage containers, bottoms and tops of prep tables, rolling carts and storage racks. #55: still observed build up of grease, food residue, and debris on floors and walls throughout entire kitchen. Instructed person in charge to detail clean and maintain. Priority violation 7-42-090, citation issued
