Hummus Food Poisoning

Hummus Food Poisoning

It is possible to get food poisoning from hummus. Recently hummus was recalled in the US for listeria and in the UK for salmonella. In Sept 2019 a salmonella outbreak linked to hummus in MD sickened 28 diners. Commonly reported Hummus food poisoning symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, and nausea.

I met a colleague, who lives in the Seattle Metro area, but was in Albany OR visiting family. We decided it would be ideal for us to finalize a few work things so we met for lunch on 1/28. I had ordered 2-ruby beers and their mushroom … See More
burger w/tots (I only ate half of the burger and a handful of the tots). She ordered their hummus plate and a glass of wine. She also had their tiramisu. We were there for 2 hours. I just learned that we both experienced severe vomiting and diarrhea on Monday night. From the sounds of it, I had it worse than she did, as I was out of commission for 2 days and had severe dehydration. Which I monitored closely, as I was concerned I may need to go to the ER. I couldn't keep anything down. I had cold sweats, and every muscle was achy. I just assumed it was the flu. Until I spoke with her. I guess her symptoms lasted only 5 or so hours. Today is day three for me, and I'm still not 100% but so much better than I was.
This wasn't the first time I've eaten here, I've never had this experience before.  | Symptoms: Nausea, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Dehydration, Sweating, Muscle Pain
